The Speedcross 2 is a trail racing shoe that can handle any terrain, whether it be a fire road, dirt trail, dry creek beds or pavement. Speed Cross 2 GTX is lighter (12 oz men’s) than most trail shoes, especially most other GTX, or Gortex, shoes.
Gortex weather and waterproofing surrounds the shoe. This insulated waterproof material keeps your feet dry and warm when trekking through the Appalachian hills. Gortex is a breathable material it will not cause your feet to overheat on hot days.
Winter Contagrip is a patented outsole that contains cutting edge technological rubber. This patented rubber amazingly does not harden in extreme cold weather conditions. Contagrip is also nonporous so no moisture can seep through, while also staying semi-pliable in cold conditions.
The tread on Salomon Speedcross 2 is patterned quite aggressively resulting in firmer grip and traction while running on extreme terrain. The soles are designed like diamond plate on a pickup.
Salomon uses the patented Quick-lace system. This series of laces appears prelaced, providing an easy on and off experience. Spend no more time retying your shoes, when you really should be enjoying the fresh mountain air.
A mud guard and protective safety toe cap are added for maximum safety. Anti debris materials have been added so that the runner’s foot does not get impaled by any unwanted twigs or thorns. This also prevents any pebbles or small stones that may creep into to other less protected feet from invading your shoe’s privacy.
Ortholite sock liners combined with soft textile material place your feet in an optimal comfort zone. These liners are extra durable and breathable. They include a special odor eating rubber microbe system to prevent odor in the sole.
The SCS Chassis gently disperses heel strike impact throughout the body (not just to the shins), which prevents injury and down time. Heel to toe-off is noticeably more efficient in the Salomon Speedcross as compared to other brands of trail running shoes. The SCS Chassis helps control pronation if foot slippage and flat feet are an issue for you.
