Mizuno directly tackles previous concerns about adequate cushioning by introducing improved foam above their Mizuno Wave midsole. This update improves the shoe’s flexibility, making it less rigid, and more able to absorb the shock during your run.

The designers also made changes to the upper on the newest model. The Dynamotion fit on the upper is redesigned for an improved fit, allowing the shoe to move with the actual foot and reducing pressure points. The upper also has slight changes to the lace tabs, further improving the shoe’s ability to lock down your foot.

For runners with severe overpronation, the Mizuno Wave Alchemy 10 uses the Mizuno Wave support system in the midsole. This technology has impressed fans over the years by providing significant motion control, and reducing the running knee pain that overpronators often experience.

Mizuno’s Intercool system in the midsole provides effective ventilation in the Alchemy 10, keeping your foot cool, dry, and odorless. The sole is also redesigned with a lighter, more flexible material, keeping the Alchemy at a very respectable 12 ounces for the men and 10 ounces for the ladies.

Whenever considering a running shoe, the durability is a prime concern. The outsole of the Mizuno Wave Alchemy 10 is supported by Mizuno’s VS1 compound in the heel, as well as the X10 rubber placed in high tread areas. Both these features ensure your Mizuno’s last a very long time.

Is Mizuno Alchemy 10 The Best Running Shoe For Me?

The Mizuno Wave Alchemy 10 has proven to be a great option for many overpronators. Runners with wide feet and those with low arches appreciate the combination of motion control with the improved cushion and comfort.

The Mizuno Alchemy 10 has improved in many ways from the previous Mizuno Alchemy 9 model. The designers address the previous issue with insufficient padding by adding the more cushioned midsole.

However, the changes in the new model did not impress all testers. A few runners found the redesigned midsole created some uncomfortable pressure points in the forefoot, which was only resolved through breaking in the shoe after a series of runs. Others found the padding in the heel did not allow them to sufficiently lock down their foot.

For severe overpronating runners who need a strong motion control shoe with improved comfort, the Mizuno Alchemy 10 is a solid option. The majority of runners are impressed with the shoe’s fit, and its ability to reduce their knee pain.

Two other great options for severe overpronators are the New Balance 1123, which is New Balance’s top of the line maximum motion control shoe, or the popular Asics GEL Evolution 6.
